The Beginning of Project Luz

Project Luz, with its collaborative partners, seeks to empower economically and socially underserved children and youth of (but not limited to) northern Mexico by providing them with the education and resources (art and culture programs/workshops) necessary to build confidence, creativity and inspiration to make a positive difference in themselves, their families, and their communities. Workshops are led by professional artists and educators from the greater San Francisco and Los Angeles areas.

Our common goal is to motivate children by encouraging them to develop their creativity and abilities and also to promote important values in them such as self esteem, honesty, respect, work, study and service. Coordinate with diverse communities and organizations that have similar interests to foster understanding, tolerance, and respect.

Our pilot project took place April 20-23, 2007 in the town of Ejido Hermosillo, Mexico.

We are always seeking interested artists (performing and visual) to participate (transportation and housing provided) in future Projects of the Project Luz vision.
Open to artists (performing and visual) 18 years and older.
